Art Solo 12/31/16 Recap
Went to Art's solo show here in Portland on New Year's Eve with Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer and her husband as openers. Great show! For one, her husband Stephen Wilson was very talented, funny, and entertaining. Definitely had a southern flair to his songs with clever lyrics. As for Leigh...

Re: Another excellent show - Elgin, IL 10/1/2016
I thought Art didn't think it was going to be a hit and instead was behind NYT...Capitol pushed it. It is his "newest" true "hit." It is actually the opposite. Capitol thought NYT should have been the single to push especially post-9/11 but Art was adamant with VDSM. Capitol relented and didn't giv...

Re: Art Has Decided to Finally Do a Solo Record and Write a
What I found most interesting from the interview, news of the solo album/book aside, was Art speaking about the current state of the record industry and how artists do not make money off their music anymore. I think he said that BITNB had over 1 million downloads total (I'm assuming including single...

Art Has Decided to Finally Do a Solo Record and Write a Book
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153747225471973&id=6321831972 Art did an interview and played a couple songs at the office my friend's friend works at. The Oregonian has (poor quality) video of it in the link above. Art says he is finally writing a book that will be mainly about his l...

Greg's New Website and Album
Greg rebooted his website, http://www.gregeklund.org and is working on a new album! He posted a few teaser videos on his YouTube account, looks like he's been working on it for at least 4-5 months. Something to look forward to!

Willamette Week Piece on S&F/Early Years w/Greg & Cuthbert!
The Willamette Week (Portland's progressive newspaper that has been at odds with Art since the beginning) did a piece on the early years of Everclear up to the recording of Sparkle & Fade. It has interviews with some of those involved with the band at the time including Greg and Scott Cuthbert. It's...

Sparkle & Fade / SMFTA remastered for sale
Has anybody seen this or purchased one? I'm very tempted but $35 is not a cheap gamble. Apparently these guys use original masters and recreate the albums to make them sonically better. http://www.interventionrecords.com/titles/?t=sparkle-and-fade Mastering Notes Everclear’s Sparkle and Fade was cap...

Re: BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
Any word on TV appearances or a music video? Seems odd, the level of promotion for BITNB compared to Invisible Stars. Maybe Art is wanting to do more promotion this summer in unison with Summerland?

Re: BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
bands like Everclear don't return to the mainstream regardless of how good their new stuff is. It's like once the magical force that controls what's popular decides you're done, you're done. It certainly is a weird mystical power, too. I sure don't get it. It's like the radio still worships and pla...

Re: BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
'Complacent' really needs to be the next single. Sounds like it's going to be 'American Monster' but 'Complacent' is a much better, catchier song IMO and more "classic" EC that people will connect with.

Re: BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
It's been a while since we've heard a sequence as powerful as the 'show me" breakdown on 'Simple and Plain'. It reminds me a lot of 'California King' breakdown ("I will find you in a crowded room..."), which to me was always a powerful moment in EC's "history" so to speak. Oh and I'm pretty sure aft...

Re: BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
Now to go listen to the album a few hundred more times. ;) This. Also in the review the band posted on Facebook earlier this week the review said 'Complacent' would be a smart choice for a single. I kind of agree with that, the song is pretty much everything Everclear has always been. Sonically, th...
