I really like Dali, too. When I was in Florida several years ago we spent some time at the museum and I really got into it.

I like old photos and drawings of places I've been, too, I guess for the same reasons as you guys. I think it's really interesting seeing how something has become so incredibly developed or fallen by the wayside or whatever.

One of my favorite pieces is this, which I think is an engraving by a D'Olivar (but I am not positive).

I think it has something to do with this book, Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds, which it seems is Entretiens sur la Pluralite des Mondes originally. I don't really know the story, and it always takes me an obscenely long amount of time to track it down online (I finally saved it to my computer just now). Anyway, the image was just in one of my history books in high school or college. It's a little "the universe is so big, we're so small," even as the guy seems to be trying to explain everything, that space dwarfs everything else. and i think there's a little bit of 17th century romance in there.

I also have a thing for paintings of st sebastian. i was in italy going through the museums and galleries and i kept seeing this guy with all these arrows stuck in him, so i developed a bit of sympathy.
