Early "Heroin Girl" written for Colorfinger LP

Post by Colorfinger » Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:19 pm

I came in contact with an early lyric sheet that was written by Art while he was gathering ideas for the Colorfinger album.

On this sheet it features a tracklisting like this

Side One
The Marrying Kind
Eleanor Young
Carolea
Static
? (Gay Bar Song)
Chuckleheads Lament

Side Two
Kill The Sun
The Come around
You Can Die Like Me (early name for 13 years)
Separation
Anita Sonic Love
Heroin Girl (Esther)

What's even weirder is how completely different the lyrics are for this song than the one that we know and love on Sparkle & Fade.

here is side two that i scanned with some slight watermarking.

most of the songs are pretty well formed by this point but i guess it makes sense that heroin girl was written around this time!

wow, they ARE completely different. In another topic I said Art was at his best when he was writing for World of Noise as far as EC goes. I wish he would write like that again. Now it's all washed up and poppy sounding. The things he writes about now are generic songs. While they're things that he's been through, it's not distinctively him. He should write more autobiographical songs about the early years.

Alex got this from Art's garbage? Pshaw, we all know the only paper that's in Art's trash are his tax forms.
