There's as good of a chance of Everclear getting into the hall of fame as their is of the sun blowing up tommorow.

Everclear will never be in it...is Nirvana even in it yet? They will be, I'm sure.

I know it's an utterly hypothetical situation, but it would be fantastic! Imagine the ceremony: Art, Craig and Greg re-united to play some of the hits..

if they ever did do anything like that, it would likely be the first time a murder took place on the stage of the R&R HOF.

We're lucky that platinum albums aren't one of the big considerations for bands to be included. If it were, Nickelback would be a lock.

Honestly, getting in is mostly about having people in the right places like you. It seems like the voters aren't prog-rock fans, hence the exclusion of Rush, Yes, Genesis, etc. I think they hate bands like Kiss, too, given their over-emphasis on merchandising.

As far as 90s bands go, Nirvana is a lock. So are Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. Other likelies: Dave Matthews, Green Day, Alanis Morissette, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley.

Everclear? I really don't think so. They didn't really do anything groundbreaking, were never really a critic's band, and were never really hugely successful. They're kind of in a pool of bands like The Cranberries, Blind Melon, Collective Soul, etc, that were popular but never hugely so and didn't do anything in particular that made them stand out.

I think the bottom edge of the cut-off for making the Hall are bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, and the Foo Fighters. None of those bands has been consistently huge or critically lauded. But I think each of them has that extra whatever that will get them in. (Compare those bands to Everclear and you'll see why I don't think Everclear will get in.)

Maybe the beatles can reunite for a "Hall of fame concert." Really, it's about the same chance level.

It's still cool how you can at least vote for them.

Still, I don't think they were seen as trailblazers like Nirvana for instance. Major points for influence however.
