Summerland 2013

Post by clifornia_king » Tue Apr 30, 2013 8:59 pm

So, who has their tickets and what show you going to? Any guesses on the setlist? Would imagine that they would have to change it significantly (minus the hits) as this is year 2 of Summerland in many of the same cities/venues.

I am really looking forward to it - I think it will be a great alternative rock show!

I guarantee you the setlist will be virtually identical to last year.

I think they bring some Invisible Stars to the set. Obviously the hits aren't going anywhere, which they shouldn't. For me, I would like to see Santa Ana Wind and BCWYAF in there as staples. Maybe put YMMFLAW and One Hit Wonder or something from SFAAM in there as well instead of classic rock medley.

Pumped for this tour though

I won't be able to go this year.

It would be great if they did 2 Invisible Stars songs. "I Am Better Without You" would sound good in the set and I don't think it would be too hard to pull off live. I'd also like "Falling in a Good Way" or "Rocket for the Girl." (Or most of the other new songs!) I would be surprised if this happened, though.

"Whore" has actually been played at a lot of shows the last two years. They played it at each of the 3 Summerland shows I went to last year. They should do "Learning How to Smile." The title track to one of their hit albums - I'm sure the crowd would like it and it would be something different for the people that are returning to Summerland this year.

Also, I'm always surprised at how well "Fire Maple Song" is received:

I would be willing to sacrifice Afterglow, Heartspark and Whore to make room for some of these other songs.

I know YMMFLAW has been around - jus think it is a good song to make the reg rotation. I like the idea of FMS making it in as well. Maybe add in Like A Cali King, Normal Like You, Electra, or Rockstar are good choices I think casual fans would know. I like the idea of Afterglow being an opener or coming back for the encore. Just think it is best in the catalogue.

Looks like my summer plans have slipped through so I may be in Houston when they come by on July 14th. Grabbed some tix anyway since that show is free. Honestly I don't expect it to be any different from what they were doing when they were on tour with Eve 6 last fall. Just a shorter set :)

I haven't bought a ticket yet. I don't know if I'll be around and even if I am it's in a casino and quite a drive for me.

The band and Art threw it out there on Twitter asking what songs want to be heard on the tour this year! I think we will get some new flavor in the set!!

He just said they are going to be playing 3 songs they've never played live before. Whoa.

They should do Here We Go Again. Wasn't the only reason they never played it in 2000 that Craig and Greg didn't like it or something?

If this is accurate, nothing new. Just realized that Ed Kowalczyk isn't singing for Live anymore, either. Unless the VIP acoustic concert is amazing, I'm gonna pass on this tour.

That's actually pretty cool. They haven't played normal like you in years
