Broken?

Post by guthrie » Tue Jan 30, 2007 3:39 pm

I'm stuck on the bridge and the chorus for Broken. Anybody know those parts? George, I'm looking in your direction. I know you're probably getting sick of all the requests, but I think you might be the new Everclear guitar hero for some of us. Not that anybody probably needs them, but up until WTTDC, I pretty much know how to play all of Everclear's songs and a lot of the Colorfinger stuff too (not Separation, but if anyone has that....). Sorry if it sounds like I'm not contributing, but I don't know any of the new stuff. I'll sure be happy to tab out what I know if there are requests.

This is probably my favorite song on the new CD. The bridge was the most difficult part of an Everclear song I've had to figure out in a long time - I knew the first time I heard it that they were some type of seventh chords but it took me a frustratingly long amount of time to figure out which ones.

Overall, it's a pretty typical Everclear song in that while it may sound like there's only one guitar playing there are actually three or four. For example, at the beginning of the first verse ("I wish I could push a button and make the pain all go away...") there are at least three guitars playing. To tab everything out individually would take an extremely long time, so at times things are simplified or condensed. In the chorus, he occasionally picks the three high strings of each chord, so feel free to throw that in when you're playing it. I just briefly listened to Separation and it doesn't sound too difficult - I'll see if I can throw something together for it in the next couple days.

You rock George! I've been meaning to give kudos, but have been a little busy playing guitar. Thanks a million again!
